Episode description
Episode One: “Solo for Amadeus”
Amadeus is scheduled to sing in the choir on the Archbishop’s name day. Yet Amadeus must help his friend Kajetan with the problem of the robbed coach that was loaded down with cookies and chocolate for the event. Can Amadeus help his friend and be at the bishop’s celebration on time?
MUSIC:
The episode begins with the opening of the 3rd Movement of the famous Piano Sonata No. 16 in C Major K. 545, which Amadeus is playing at home on the piano. This motif subsequently occurs several times more, in different arrangements, for example as “the song of the market women.“ It is also, in fact, on this first movement of what is probably Mozart’s best-known piano sonata that the theme song of the series is based. The central role in “Solo for Amadeus“ is played by the section “Dona Nobis Pacem“ of the “Coronation Mass“ K. 317 (here provided with a new text).
