Episode description
Devilius and Monti the Rat are working on a devious new plan. Together, they lure Pumperl, Amadeus' sweet little dog, into the hands of a dogcatcher. They're hoping he'll be so busy with the search for Pumperl that he won't be able to perform at the silver wedding anniversary of his friend Kati's parents. This would enable Devilius' nephew Mario, who is madly in love with Kati, to take Amadeus' place (and his music). Unfortunately for them, the bad guys didn't plan on Pumperl being so clever.
MUSIC:
At the musical centre of this episode is the lively opening motif of the 3rd Movement of Mozart’s Piano Trio No. 7 in G Major KV 564. In the course of the action this motif returns again and again, played on different combinations of instruments (Flute solo, chamber orchestra, or the original orchestration, namely: piano, violin and cello). Pumperl we recognize by his association with the equally lively opening motif of theSerenade “Gran Partita” No. 10 in B Major KV 361.
