Steps for Learning - Activity Two: Dangerous Adventures

The purpose of this activity is to provide students with an opportunity to create a skit.

1. Have the class view the Wunderkind Little Amadeus episode entitled “The Kidnappers.” Tell the students that they are going to create a skit based on this episode.

Encourage the students to listen for examples of different music dynamics in the episode.

After the class is finished viewing, provide each student with a copy of the Comprehension Checker. For K-2 students, complete the Comprehension Checker as a class. For older students, you can have the students work in pairs or independently to answer the questions. When the students are finished, review the answers as a class. Tell the students that they will be using information from the Comprehension Checker as they develop their skits.

2. Give the students a copy of the “The Skit Planner” handout. Tell the students that they are going to use the handout to plan their skits. Before you begin, review the handout and clarify any questions the students might have.

Teacher Note: For K-2 students, you may wish to create a class skit. For older students, you can have the students work in small groups and create skits.

3. Provide time for students to practice their skits. Invite others in the school and community to view students’ creations. If possible, videotape the performances to share with others.
