Steps for Learning - Activity One: That’s My Story!

The purpose of this activity is to introduce students to how different points of view are used in telling a story.

1. As a class, read The True Story of The Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka. (This book is commonly available in your local or school library). This book tells the tale of “The Three Little Pigs” from the perspective of the wolf. Lead a class discussion about point of view using the following questions as guidelines:

  • What does point of view mean?
  • Were you surprised to hear the story told from the wolf’s point of view?
  • Can you think of examples of other common stories that would be fun to tell from another point of view?
  • How was the wolf’s point of view different than that of the three little pigs?
  • How did hearing the wolf’s point of view change the story?
