The purpose of this activity is to provide students with an opportunity to tell a story in a dramatic reading and to create an original song.


1. As a class, view the Wunderkind Little Amadeus episode “The Bird Seller.” Review the Comprehension Checker questions with your students to ensure they understand what happened in the story.


 


2. Tell the students that they are going to write a paragraph retelling the episode events from one character’s perspective. Divide the class into small groups, and give each group a copy of the “This is My Story!” handout. Review the handout directions with your students, and clarify any questions they might have.


 


Teacher Note:


If you are doing this activity with K-2 students, you may wish to complete the handout as a class. Older students can complete the handout independently.


 


4. Provide time for students to share their dramatic presentations and songs with their classmates. Invite others in the school or community to view the performance, if possible.
