Building Background Activity
Activity One: More Mozart
The purpose of this activity is to help students respond to the music of Mozart.
1. As a class, listen to Mozart’s "Violin Sonata in F" K. 376. Tell the students that an important part of understanding and enjoying music comes from describing it. Lead a class discussion using the following prompts:
- How would you paint Mozart’s music? What colors would you use?
- If you were going to create a sculpture inspired by Mozart’s music, what would it look like?
- If you were going to create a dance inspired by Mozart’s music, what would it look like?
2. As a class, read Mozart’s biography (coming soon). Ask students to retell what they read using their own words. Ask the students what surprised them the most in what they read.
