Steps for Learning - Activity Two: A Variety of Villains

The purpose of this activity is to provide an opportunity for students to create representations of villains through art, theater and music.

 1. Divide the class into small groups. Tell the students that they are going to create a class presentation on a Wunderkind Little Amadeus villain. Tell them that their presentations should include the following:
  • A clay sculpture
  • A dramatization of the villain
  • Musical accompaniment to be played as they present their villain dramatization
Encourage the students to imagine the characteristics of their villain and try to convey this in their presentations. Tell them to use a variety of movements, vocal pitches, and facial expressions that express their villains in their dramatizations.

The students can organize the work on their group presentations in a variety of ways. For example, students may divide the work and let one or two students create the sculpture, dramatic reading or the music. Or they may choose to work on all three elements as a group.

Teacher Note: For K-2 students, you may choose to create a whole-class presentation and assign one group to each task.

2. Provide time for each group to share its presentation with the entire class. Invite others in the school and community to view students’ work, and, if possible, take pictures to post in the classroom and school.
