Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Amadeus is a smart, talented and mischievous 8-year-old, who is already a star in his hometown of Salzburg. Little Amadeus loves adventure and he can’t resist sweets – or music! Wunderkind Little Amadeus follows the fun-filled escapades of this charming hero as he overcomes obstacles – and always manages to outwit the scheming Devilius. Little Amadeus embarks on countless adventures using his wit, charm and vivid imagination as his guide.
Nannerl Mozart
Amadeus’ big sister, whose real name is Maria Anna, is five years older than Amadeus. She plays the piano and violin just as well as her brother and often finds herself in the middle of Amadeus’ fantastic plots. She very much wants to behave like a little lady, but sometimes finds herself in some unlady-like scrapes with her daring brother.
Pumperl
Amadeus’ fearless and loyal dog Pumperl is always there when he needs him. Like Little Amadeus, he has a nose for adventure and never misses an opportunity for excitement with his master. Thankfully, Pumperl is a born rescuer, and helps his human friends out of all sorts of sticky situations time and again.
Anna Maria Mozart
Amadeus’ mother, Anna Maria, brings calm and balance to her young son’s life. She reminds him that family and friends are as important as his music – with neatness and order close behind. Though she disciplines Amadeus’, he easily finds a way into her heart, and can have her wrapped around his little finger.
Leopold Mozart
Nannerl’s and Amadeus’ father, Leopold Mozart, is very proud of his two “miracle children” and guides them with equal amounts of love and discipline. As the head composer and vice court musician for the Archbishop of Salzburg, Leopold uses his position to bring the wonderful works of his son to the world. He often goes out on a limb to organize concert tours and appearances – even when it causes financial difficulties and friction with his superiors.
Lorenzo Devilius
Lorenzo Devilius is the private secretary and lord of the court for the Archbishop of Salzburg. His greed and thirst for power is insatiable and he aspires to be a great musician, which makes young Amadeus his biggest enemy. Behind Devilius’ elegant facade lurks a shady and slippery character. Devilius constantly plots to deny the young Amadeus and his family any success, while he aims to be hailed as a hero himself.
Mario Carrieri
Mario is Devilius’ nephew and only a little bit older than Amadeus. Mario was brought to Salzburg to compete with the brilliant Amadeus. Unfortunately, Mario is only an average music student at best and does not possess the same kind of sparkling personality as Amadeus – something his uncle refuses to see. Although Mario is trained to compete with Amadeus, in his heart of hearts he would much rather be a good friend to the boy genius.
Monti the Rat
Monti the Rat is Devilius’ little darling and dedicated accomplice. Wherever Devilius is, Monti is never too far away and can usually be found tucked inside his jacket pocket. He is always there to encourage Devilius to dream up and carry out his sinister plans. With his malicious and quick mind, Monti supports Devilius with a steady stream of advice on how to weaken Amadeus.
Kajetan Hagenauer
Kajetan is Amadeus’ best friend and spends every spare moment living out adventures in Salzburg with his pal. When Amadeus gets caught in a tight spot, it is only Kajetan who knows how to carry out the crazy schemes of his genius friend. Without Kajetan, Little Amadeus would sometimes be completely lost and helpless. In return, Amadeus often helps Kajetan with his math homework. Together, they make an unbeatable team.
Countess KissKiss
The widowed Countess KissKiss could live happily in her villa away from the hustle and bustle of the world and free of worries. Yet, despite her riches and many celebrations with her noble friends, the Countess finds little to be positive about. When she is not complaining about a terrible migraine, she is bemoaning the state of her silverware. Fortunately for the Countess, she knows Amadeus and sees him as her little ray of sunshine, who brings joy with his melodies and playful approach to life. Amadeus enjoys the friendship – if not the constant kisses from the Countess…!
Archbishop Schrattenbach
The Archbishop is a huge fan of Little Amadeus and loves his music as well as the boy’s spontaneous and intelligent nature. As the regent of the small state of Salzburg – who always mispronounces words when he get excited – the Archbishop has many opportunities to promote his young friend, Amadeus. This is much to the displeasure of his personal secretary, Devilius, who always goes to great lengths to prevent the rise of Amadeus.
Kati
Kati is the daughter of the Salzburg city bakers and has two admirers: Amadeus and Mario. While Kati finds Mario and his underhanded plans really awful, she simply adores the young musical Mozart. Little Amadeus admires Kati for her charming smile, honesty and openness. Kati has another weakness apart from Amadeus: the irresistible chocolate kipferl biscuits that are made by the Hagenauer family. And these delicious treats give her another wonderful reason to visit Amadeus and the Mozart family at every opportunity.
